What is a Walkin Bathtub?

Walkin tubs offer features that are specific to purposes you won’t typically get from a traditional bath. Where a traditional bath can be 20” or higher from the bathroom floor which can be an obstacle for some, a walkin tub offers a U or V shape door that opens so that you can easily walk in rather than having to step over to get into and out of the tub. These walk in doors are sealed so that they are watertight to keep them from leaking and typically come in right-hand or left-hand configurations to meet the individuals’ specific needs. This is why walkin tubs are often called tubs with doors or step in bath tubs.  Some walkin tubs have lower stepins than others.  The lowest being under 2.5 inches.

We find it to have an accurate website and to be accurate with its advertising facts.

Company claims: All of our tubs come with an Easy-Use locking handle that requires minimal force to operate. In addition, our door seal is backed by Our Leak-Free Guarantee.  Our frameless design provides the safest step-in height on the market today at only 0 – 2½ inches. Most walk-in tubs today have a 8-9 inch step-in, which is only a few inches less than a conventional bath tubs entry eight. Our knowledgeable team can answer your questions, and help you select the best walk-in bathtub to fit your individual needs and budget.

We have reviewed the Kohler Walkin Tub and safety features.

The company says that the size of most home water heater tanks are large enough to fill tub with hot water and Kohler states their walkin tub is designed to match your personal style and fit your bath without any major renovations using their specialized wall panels. We found this companies tubs to be acrylic coating over fiberglass, which is not our recommendation for a walk-in tub.
Their sales pitch and price gimmicks dictate a wide range of prices. Jacuzzi offers tubs throughout the U.S.A. through Dealers & Corporate Sales.

The company claims that while it performs like no other walk-in bath/shower and that it is not an institutional looking, “old-people’s” safety bath.

We found Imported Walk-in Tubs. Very impressive in appearance but institutional looking. Note the tub shell is acrylic coated and we highly recommend GelCoated tubs over acrylic covered tub shells. The walk in baths we saw had one of the highest step-ins (8″-9 1/2″)* in the Industry. Step-In is very important to note because such a high step-in may create a tremendous challenge for users with mobility issues. It is a framed walk-in tub imported from China. Sold throughout the U.S. *We have found the step-in may be lowered slightly by removing toe kick panel if installation allows for such adjustment.

Safe Step Walk-In Tub Company offers good product quality, warranty and materials. They have a reasonable price verses value on walk-in tubs. We understand the prefer to use their installers, which we don't prefer. The fist level of calls seem to be a call center approach but mostly were knowledgeable, accurate website and advertising.  We can't find that they offer pricing over the phone.

Safe-step provides Walk-in Tubs to the Entire U.S.A.

Safe-Step claims their New MicroSoothe Air Therapy System is able to offer life-changing therapeutic benefits, but yet seems to be somewhat similar to competitors air therapy. We will update this once we have been able to evaluate this option. 

Safe-Step entry threshold is not the lowest as they used a "Framed" design.

You will encounter a “Call Center” approach in our initial contact. We found no over the phone help and limited hydrotherapy options (as they offers only air jets, not water and air jets American Made).  We encountered false claims on their website stating American made when they came from China.  We found their pricing to be “Sales Pitch & Tactic Based” and that resulted in “Very High Pricing”. They offer installation.  We found a high number of complaints. Premier Care covers the Entire U.S.A.
